IRATA produced the first edition of General requirements for certification of personnel engaged in industrial rope access methods (the IRATA General requirements) in 1992, as a scheme of training and qualifications focusing on safety. Since then, IRATA qualifications have become the international industry standard requirement for personnel engaged in industrial rope access methods. This revision results from the experience gained in operating the scheme for many years and reflects IRATA’s commitment to continuous improvement. |

These reports summarise employment and accident/incident data submitted by member companies to IRATA during each calendar year. Members submit two sets of reports: •Quarterly employment figures, including working hours and •Details of specific incidents or accidents for each event or person injured. Both sets of data are essential in order to calculate accident/incident rates. |
INTERNATIONAL CODE OF PRACTICE (ICOP) The ICOP replaces the ‘Guidelines’ and become the means by which IRATA rope access will be regulated and operated around the world. IRATA has over 200 member companies spread around the world and has trained in excess of 30,000 rope access technicians. It should be noted that the International Code of Practice is not intended as a full interpretation of the law and does not relieve employers of their duties under the various legal requirements that may relate to their specific location, situation and applications. |
PROCEDURES FOR IRATA REGISTRATIONS & DIRECT ENTRY This document sets out in detail the procedures to be followed for expired IRATA technicians and direct entry applicants. It supersedes sections; 10.3, 10.4, 10.5 and 18 of the ‘General Requirements for certification of personnel engaged in industrial rope access methods’, in this respect. This document also offers additional requirements for standard applicants |
